Apple’s next generation M-series chip will reportedly launch next year

Must read

The Apple M1 chip made a serious impact on the PC processor market with its solid performance and power efficiency. And while the other chip makers are still trying to catch up and get over it, Apple reportedly has the successor ready which is likely to be called the M2 chip, according to a report by Phonearena.
The Apple M1 chip was built using TSMC’s 5nm process node. However, as per the report, the alleged M2 chip is expected to be produced using TSMC’s 4nm processor note.
The 4nm process node means the upcoming processor will be even more power efficient and powerful compared to its predecessor. The Apple M2 chip is also expected to make its debut with Apple MacBook Air next year according to a report by TF International’s reliable analyst Ming-Ching Kuo.
The M2 chip is expected to feature a total of eight cores that include four high performance cores and four energy efficient cores. The processor is also speculated to feature improved graphics cores.
Apart from that, the Cupertino-based tech giant is also expected to announce a high performance version of the M1 chip dubbed as M1X. The processor is expected to come with 10 cores and around 32 core GPU for better graphics performance. The company is expected to launch the processor with its 2021 lineup of Apple MacBook Pro.
As of now, there’s no confirmation from Apple whether it will launch both the processors or not. However, if that happens, they will put the market leaders into a tight spot.
