google: Google removes these three kids app from Play Store for violating data collecting policies

Must read

Google has removed three popular apps aimed for kids from Google Play Store for violating the company’s data collection policies.
TechCrunch has reported that Princess Salon, Number Coloring and Cats & Cosplay apps have been removed from Play Store after International Digital Accountability Council (IDAC), a nonprofit organisation based out of Boston highlighted that these three apps were found collecting Android ID and Android Advertising ID (AAID) and hence violating Google’s data collection policies.
According to the report, these apps were not directly associated with data collection. Reportedly the issue was with the frameworks — Unity, Appodeal and Umeng that were powering the apps. The frameworks were collecting the Android ID and AAID from the kids’ phone and that’s a direct violation of Google’s policies.
In response to the issue, Google clearly stated that it takes action against any app that violates policy and in this case, Princess Salon, Number Coloring and Cats & Cosplay apps have broken the policy of not using developer kits that aren’t approved for ‘child-directed services’.
