Google has announced that its iOS and Android mobile shopping service will be phased out in June of this year. The mobile shopping app will, however, be available in the desktop (web) version. The website shopping.google.com will continue to function.
“Within the next few weeks, we’ll no longer be supporting the Shopping app. All of the functionality the app offered users is available on the Shopping tab. “We’ll continue building features within the Shopping tab and other Google surfaces, including the Google app, that make it easy for people to discover and shop for the products they love,”
The Company Said In A Statement
The mobile shopping app allowed users to shop from thousands of online stores and pay with their Google accounts.
According to the survey, Google has been increasing the use of augmented reality and expanding shopping functionality in Search, Image Search, and YouTube.
According to Xda Developers, the term “sunset” had been added to certain strings of code in the Shopping app, meaning that the apps were being phased out.
