On the below-appended download page, you will discover two MSI installers. One of them is for the web community and the other is for simple community users as listed below. Click on the button “Download” in front of the windows MSI installer which is beneath the first MSI file to download it. This is because we wish to utilize the simple community MySQL server.
You will be navigated towards another page of the MySQL community right after clicking on the download button. If you want to register with MySQL you will be presented by the below screen to login or sign up with MySQL. For time being, we are skipping the registration process. Therefore, click on the underlined blue line “no thanks, just start my download’.
The MySQL community download has been started as an MSI file on our local system as shown in the image below.
Now, the MSI file has been successfully downloaded. To begin installing it, right-click on it and select “Install.” A dialogue box will appear starting the installation as beneath.
Before going further, there may be a window that popped up asking you to accept the license agreement. Accept the License agreement and hit the Next button. Now, the MySQL Installer window has been opened. You can choose the type of Setup you desire to install on your system. We have been using the “Developer Default” for all MySQL general purposes. You can see the description of a setup type we had selected just before. Now hit the Next button which leads you to the next phase.
We are on the edge of selecting the products we want to install from our default MySQL server. Hence, you can move the products of your choice from the left Available Products to the right area of Products to be installed as shown in the below image. Tick mark the check box to enable the selected features page to customize your products. To carry out the installation, push the Next button.
The MySQL Installer screen has been moved to the Path Conflicts section. In this section, you have to resolve the path conflicts by changing or selecting the location of products to be installed. So, select the location and hit the Next button to proceed towards the next phase.
Right after we click on the “Next” button, a warning will be generated on our screen. It would be, because we have not resolved the path conflicts. Just proceed with the installation process of MySQL Installer by clicking on the “Yes” button. Otherwise, click on the “No” button to revert to the path conflict page to resolve this issue.
As we had checked the checkbox of Enabling features to be customized by product features, therefore it leads us to the below screen. You can still uncheck the features you don’t want to install e.g. Documentation, and hit the Next button.
Now, we are led towards the Requirement checking page. On this page, you can check the requirements for listed products. This means the product we want to install must have some prerequisites installed on our system to proceed with the installations. Those prerequisites are mentioned right before the products. So, we will check our system by clicking on the check button and then press the Next button to continue.
If the below following dialogue warning appeared on your screen, this implies that your system doesn’t meet the requirements. Hence, you need to upgrade your system and install those missing prerequisites. You can go back and install those prerequisites otherwise, click on the “Yes” button to continue proceeding with the installation process.
Now, the Download screen has been reached. It shows the products we have just selected in the previous steps to install in our system. The download page shows the list of products that would be downloaded in a bit of time. Tap on the button “Execute” to start downloading these listed products on your system.
Right after your click on the Execute button, the system will start downloading the listed products as shown in the screenshot snap below.
Now that the products have been successfully downloaded on your system, the Installation screen has been appeared showing the list of products that are ready to be installed. Once again, tap on the “Execute” button to start installing the products as below.
You can see the installation process has begun.
The installation process has been completed as below. We have to click on the “Next” button to proceed with the configuration of installed products which is very necessary for the MySQL product.
You can see the list of products that are ready to be configured in our system on the screen of Product Configuration. To configure these listed products in your system, tap the “Next” button to continue.
A new screen named “Type and Networking” will appear. This will let us update or select our server configuration type. You can change the connectivity options if already selected. Make sure to select the check box of “Show Advanced and Logging Options”. At last, click the “Next” button again to proceed.
On the Authentication Method page, you have to select the method to be used after the installation of MySQL to authenticate. We are recommending using the “Use strong password Encryption Method” method. Tap the “Next” button once again.
In the section of Accounts and Roles, you have to add your new root password and repeat it. Make sure to use a strong password. After that, you can also add any user and hit the Next button to proceed.
A window service section will have appeared. You can use the default selected options, otherwise, change according to your requirements and tap the “Next” button again.
Logging Options are selected as default. You can change accordingly and tap the “Next” button.
Advanced options windows will appear. You can select the MySQL table Name case as lower or upper. After that, tap “Next” to proceed.
We have to apply the configuration to our system. For that purpose, tap on the “Execute” button to do so. The system will take a while to apply the configurations.
Now that the configurations have been done, tap Finish.
Now, hit the “Next” button on the Product Configuration screen.
The installation has been completed, tap the Finish button to proceed.
After the installation and configuration process has been done, the system will start launching the MySQL Workbench on your system automatically.
