Asking for authentication while downloading an app is not a new idea. Apple has been doing this for a while now.

Google has also implemented something similar on Google Play Store recently. However, that’s limited to purchases made using Google Play Store.

The limitation here is that it does not ask for authentication while downloading an app as iOS does. This means anyone with an unlocked Android smartphone can download an app on the smartphone.
