How to use Zoom for video calls

Zoom became a household name since 2020 after the Covid-19 Pandemic struck the world.

It has been the go-to app for many educational institutions and organizations for video calls, online meetings and conferences.

It offers a free plan which provides video conferencing services for up to 100 concurrent participants, with a 40-minute time restriction. Users can upgrade by subscribing to a paid plan. The highest plan supports up to 1,000 concurrent participants for meetings that can last up to 30 hours.

Make sure you have the latest version of Zoom (5.6.6)

Here is how to start a video call on zoom


Download Zoom app and Login

After opening the application you need to log in if you already have a Zoom account or you can make a new ID by signing up or use Google or Facebook in order to sign in.


Start or Schedule a meeting

Once logged in you will get an option to either start a new meeting instantly or schedule a meeting for later or join a meeting which someone else has created.


Starting an instant meeting

Press on a new meeting to start an instant meeting and you will enter in the meeting.


Scheduling a meeting for later

Click on schedule and fill in the necessary details about your information and press save.


Starting a scheduled meeting

You will be sent a reminder about your scheduled meeting and will be able to see it on the home screen of the Zoom application as well. Press Start in order to start the scheduled meeting.
