Truly wireless earbuds market is getting more competitive with the growing consumer base. Philips has recently launched its TAT1235 true wireless earphones in India. The earbuds come at a price tag of Rs 5,999.
We used the device for sometime and here’s what we think about it
Philips TAT1235 TWS earphone has an in-ear design. It has an oval-shaped body with protruding ear tips that sit inside the ears. The fit is secure and tight. The earbuds are light and comfortable to the ears. You can wear them for long hours without any sort of pain or discomfort to the ears.
The wireless earbuds come with touch gesture support. Like tapping on the earbuds once will play/pause the music. A double-tap will play the next-track.
The charging case has a pill-shaped body. It allows you to charge the earbuds on the go with the USB Type-C port placed on the rear side. We were glad that the case has a Type-C port. Considering majorly all phones these days come with USB Type-C, this will ensure that you need not carry an extra cable in your bag.
The case has a plastic-like body with matte finish. It looks durable and is likely to survive most accidental drops. For its price, the earbud has a strong build and impressive design.
The earphones come with 6mm neodymium drivers fitted inside the oval acoustic tube. It has an impedance of 16 ohms and a frequency response rate of 20-20,000Hz. Vocals are clear on the earbud. The device offers balanced and punchy bass. Thankfully, the earphones are not all about bass as many of its Chinese rivals are. Highs and Mids are equally pronounced.
During our review, we were quite impressed with the sound levels. While the loudest is for noisy outdoors, we mainly used them indoors at moderate sound levels. The earbuds come with a built-in microphone. So you can reject/answer calls and switch between two calls using the earbuds. As mentioned earlier, you can also control music with the gesture control on the earbuds.
Philips TAT1235 TWS earphone has a feature called the echo cancellation. It basically aims to help remove echo during audio calls taken using the earbuds. There is no noise cancellation though.
Philips TAT1235 TWS earphones connect to your smartphone/laptop over Bluetooth version 5.1. Once synced, the device automatically connects to your phone/laptop every time it is taken out of the case. The earbuds claim to offer a connectivity range of 10 meter. However, we felt music breaking in less than a distance of 10 meter.
The earbuds are IPX5 rated. It can be worn during workouts and physical exercises. The wireless earbuds also support the two popular digital voice assistants — Google Assistant and Apple Siri.
According to the company, once fully charged, the earbuds can deliver up to 6 hours of battery life. During our test, we found that the battery life is slightly shorter. It lasted up to around 4 hours for us.
The earphones come with a charging case. It takes about 2 hours for them to charge. The device has a USB Type-C port and comes with a charging cable inside the box.
Philips TAT1235 TWS earphones is an overall good product that checks all the major boxes in terms of features as well as performance. The sound output is balanced. The earbuds come with features like voice assistant support, touch-controlled gestures and more. Although the earbuds are priced at Rs 5,999, one can easily get his/her hands on the device at discounted prices online.
