Watchout Google, TikTok may be testing a new time limit

Must read

NEW DELHI: Video-sharing platform TikTok may soon allow users to record up to three-minutes long videos, as per social media consultant Matt Navarra. He tweeted regarding this with a screenshot that says that the aforementioned feature is still in the early access stage. However, there has been no confirmation by TikTok regarding the same.
The screenshot attached with the tweet says: “You have early access to uploading videos upto 3 minutes long on the TikTok app and desktop! To try it out, make sure your app is up-to-date and try uploading a video from your device to the app or tiktok.com.”

As of the now, the permissible duration of a video that can be uploaded on TikTok is one minute. If the maximum permissible video length is being considered to be increased to up to three minutes, it would be similar to the case of how YouTube videos used to be shorter than 10 minutes once. A duration of three-minutes could allow for slightly longer content on TikTok, possible film trailers and/or video songs. In that way, TikTok may have a chance to encroach upon what has been largely a YouTube territory, popularity-wise. The platform could then look to add a wider range of content.
