WhatsApp’s Vacation mode: New banner revealed in latest Android beta update

Must read

Popular instant messaging app WhatsApp has been working on introducing Vacation Mode for a long time. Now, in the latest beta version of the app,, more details about this upcoming feature have been revealed, claims a report by WABetaInfo.
As per the report, a new banner for the archived chats has been spotted on the app that will house muted chats. “Chats with new messages won’t return to the main chat list,” reads the screenshot of this new archived chat banner, the report claims.

Right now, when a WhatsApp user archives a chat, it automatically returns to the main chat screen when they receive a message in that chat. However, with the action mode, these chats are said to remain archived even with new messages being exchanged on the chat.
WABetaInfo — the online platform that tracks the upcoming changes and features — has not revealed any tentative date for the launch of the feature, but does claim that it shouldn’t take long as considering that “they are implementing the presentation banner.”
Rumours about WhatsApp rolling out the ‘vacation mode’ have been there since 2018. In July 2020, it was claimed that the feature had been shelved, however in September it was apparently again under development.
